The optional front and side panels for the new BlackWolf Turbo Plus 240 tent gives a very handy vestibule area under the new, larger, three-pole awning. We used it to shelter from the wind and sun, and also to store gear out of sight of prying eyes while we were away from the camp site.
I was recently given the opportunity to test the new model 2012/2013 BlackWolf Turbo Plus 240 tent. Our first trip in the canvas tent was to Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park (tent review here). I have just come back from a second trip away, spending an enjoyable couple of days at Dicky Beach Holiday Park in the new tent.
On the Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park camping trip, I had pre-production side panels, but no front panel to enclose the new, larger, three-pole awning. By the time I got to go on my second camping trip to Dicky Beach Holiday Park, the production front panel had come into stock at BlackWolf.
BlackWolf Turbo Plus 240 front and side panels
The front and side panels for the BlackWolf Turbo Plus 240 are optional extras that are well worth getting. You may not plan on using them every time, but if you have a partner like mine, as soon as you have done the bulk of the camp site set up she will want the front and side panels attached to the tent. My wife, loves the front vestibule area created with the panels on the new BlackWolf Turbo Plus 240 tent.
The side panels fit both the new Turbo 240 and Turbo 300 series BlackWolf tents with the three pole awnings (including the Plus and Twin tents, and canvas and polyester models). The front panel is different for the Turbo 240 and Turbo 300 series tents due to the differing tent widths. Note that the side panels and front panel will not fit the older two-pole awning BlackWolf tents.
Note that the front panel in the above photos was a production model, but the side panels were pre-production models. The main visual difference is that these pre-production side panels were not quite long enough to be pegged into the ground. The production front panel was longer, and I am told that the production side panels will be similar length.
BlackWolf Turbo Plus 240 size
We dropped our kids at their grandparents’ house in Caloundra, just down the road from the Dicky Beach Holiday Park, so we got to have some adult time. While the BlackWolf Turbo Plus 240 tent was a sung fit for two adults and two children on our last camping trip to Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park, it was very roomy for just two adults.
One of the key things for me is that the BlackWolf Turbo Plus 240 will fit across the boot of my Toyota Prado. If I owned this tent, I could totally change how I pack my car, using the roof rack for light and bulky clothes and bedding (I currently put my own BlackWolf Turbo Plus 300 on the roof rack). You may think that this is a minor detail, but given that we set out to carry all our gear in or on our car, rather than towing a trailer, it is a major consideration when taking a family away camping.
